How to send files from your phone to a PC without a cable

    Open Dropinn on your PC

    Go to Dropinn in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. The home page opens Wi-Fi Share, ready to receive.

    Open the same page on your phone

    Click Open on another device on the PC and scan the QR code with your phone's camera, or type the address into the phone's browser.

    Tap Choose Files and select photos, videos or documents. You can pick several at once, and each one shows upload progress.

    The files appear in the list on the PC within seconds. Click Download and they are saved to your usual Downloads folder.

When the phone and PC are on different networks

Wi-Fi Share groups devices that use the same network. If your phone is on mobile data or a different Wi-Fi, click Private Share on the PC instead. It creates a private session with its own QR code; scan it with the phone and both devices can send files in either direction.

Why not USB or Bluetooth?

  • A USB cable needs the right cable, and on Android you also have to switch the phone to file transfer mode.
  • Bluetooth needs pairing and is slow for large videos.

Sending large videos

Files up to 10 GB are supported. Large files are uploaded in parts straight from your phone to storage, so keep the browser tab open until the progress bar finishes. On an iPhone, keep Safari on screen during the upload.

Sending files from the PC to the phone

It works the same way in reverse. Drop a file onto the page on the PC, and tap Download on the phone. On iPhone the file is saved to the Files app, in Downloads.
